Read page 168-172 and answer questions 1, 3, 4, and 5.

1. Define
  • Jesus- A jew born in the town of Bethlehem and raised in Nazareth.
  • Apostle- 12 men that tried to spread Jesus' teachings. 
  • Paul- One of the Apostles that  had a big influence on Christianity's development.
  • Diaspora- The dispersal of the Jews.
  • Constantine- A roman emperor who fought three rivals for leadership of Rome.
  • Bishop- A priest who supervised local churches.
  • Peter- An apostle who traveled to Rome from Jerusalem and became the first bishop there.
  • Pope- Head of christian church.
3.  What did Jesus emphasize in his early teachings?
Peoples love for God, their neighbors, their enemies, and even themselves.
4.  Why did the early christians face persecution from the romans?
Early christians refused to worship the roman gods.
5. What is the importance of the Nicene Creed?
The Nicene Creed was important because it defined the basic beliefs of the church.

Day 7 Discuss this topic: The United States is declining, like the Roman Empire did. You may agree or disagree, but give a solid reason. I believe that in some ways the Unites States is declining, like the Roman Empire but in other ways the United States is doing well. I think that for the United States, our education and military is doing well, but our health and government is declining. The United States has many public schools which makes it easy for everyone to get a basic education. I think that having knowledgeable people is something that is needed to keep our government from  declining. With out education, we might have made the same mistakes as the Romans did back then. Today in class we had a second review day for our test that was supposed to be tomorrow. Due to the fact that we still have eight slides left to look at and talk about, we will be reviewing again tomorrow and our test will now be moved to Wednesday. Our test is 50 questions and all multiple choice.

Today in class we did a work sheet on Egypt. Mr. Schick didn't make the worksheet so he didn't know some of the answers and half of them weren't in the text book. I searched for the answers half of the class before being told they weren't in the book so then we looked them up on line.
