Today in class we wrote down what what would have happened in Hammurabi's time if you broke certain laws. Then we turned in the homework and the blue worksheet. After that, we took notes out of the text book on page 35-43 (Egypt).

Read page 155-159 and answer questions 1, 3, 4, and 5. 1.  Terms and Names Republic- A   form of government in which power rest with citizens who have the right to vote for their leaders. Patrician- Wealthy landowners who hold most of the power. Plebeians- Common farmers, artisans, and merchants who made up the majority of the population. Tribunes- Elect representatives. Consul- Commanded the army and directed the government for one year. Senate- The aristocratic branch of Rome's government. Dictator- Leader who had absolute power to make laws and command an army.
