Today in class we read about Early River Valley Civilizations in the textbook. We learned about the climate and weather changes and how they effected crops and farming. They had floods that would create silt which was good for planting grain. The two rivers in the Fertile Crescent are the Tigris and Euphrates. They flow south west to the Persian Gulf. They frequently flood. When people learned where to plant their plants and how to make water get there, they advanced in their farming.

Read page 155-159 and answer questions 1, 3, 4, and 5. 1.  Terms and Names Republic- A   form of government in which power rest with citizens who have the right to vote for their leaders. Patrician- Wealthy landowners who hold most of the power. Plebeians- Common farmers, artisans, and merchants who made up the majority of the population. Tribunes- Elect representatives. Consul- Commanded the army and directed the government for one year. Senate- The aristocratic branch of Rome's government. Dictator- Leader who had absolute power to make laws and command an army.
